Of course, ‘The Daily Rob’ is something of a misnomer; it is, in fact, not daily. Of late, I’
ve been lucky to get around to it monthly. Mostly due to the effort I was formerly putting
into constructing each page. I mean it wasn’t just writing the article, it was building the
page that went with it. The whole idea of hand coding yet another page always put a
damper on the writing-for-pleasure flame. So I’d let it go. And let it go. And go. And…
well, you get the idea.
Of course that still doesn’t answer the question. Here’s what it isn’t – factual. At least
not always.
Perhaps the best way to think of it is like a farmer’s almanac – fun facts and fiction.
Actually, that would be a good catch phrase – fun facts and fiction from Rob’s
Almanac. ‘Rob’s Almanac’ was a close runner up for the blog’s name, but it was too
long – it wouldn’t fit on the banner at the top of this splash page.
This leads to the question, “Were there other name runners up? In fact, I considered
many names for this blog; ‘The World According to Rob,’ and ‘What Would Rob Do?’
(‘WWRD?’) were two of the contenders, but given the mood of the body politic, it’s
probably best not to be thought of as a blasphemer.
All that aside, it still doesn’t really tell you what the Daily Rob is all about. I guess that it
is what all blogs are – an opportunity for one person to speak his mind without being
fettered by corporate style and voice rules and regulations.
On more than one occasion I have been accused of being opinionated, a know-it-all,
hidebound, defensive, eggheaded, talky, and a thousand other things – some justly,
some not so justly. So I’ve set up a blog at Blogger.com and now I’m going to share it
all with the world and here’s your chance to form your own opinion. You may laugh,
you may cry. You might agree, you might disagree. And it’s highly possible that you’ll
get angry at me. Good. Let me hear about it.
